Thoughts for the New Left Handed Golfer

by Johnny Cartwright

Being born left handed can be thought of two ways; either a disguised blessing or a curse. You have to cope with things like special school desks and chairs to having to use a set of left handed golf clubs. Sometimes it is such a bother to be a lefty! However, it seems like there are more and more people being born left handed. Take a look in the sports arena. You may notice that there are a lot more southpaws swinging their bats in baseball these days.

Be sure to take your time when choosing the right left handed golf clubs so they will fit your needs for many years.

There has not been too much of a demand for left handed sets so you won’t find too many on the market. However, most major golf club makers like Callaway, Nike, and Mizuno make both right handed and left handed golf club sets.

Is it more expensive to be a left handed golfer? While it is true that there is less of a demand for left handed golf clubs, they are not priced much higher than a right handed set.

If you would like to be more like a right handed golfer, it is possible to have left handed golf sets specially designed and custom made. In order to have custom made left handed golf clubs made you will have to supply your weight, height, gender, and the distance from the wrist to the floor to the maker. The maker will also take things like age, handicap, speed of swing, and what is used on the 150 yard mark into consideration when designing the clubs.

Even though custom left handed golf clubs are likely more expensive than others, the investment will pay off with added enjoyment of the game. Using the right set of golf clubs can keep a guy out of the bunker and get him back to the clubhouse quickly and in a great mood.

Most people that decide to take up the game think they have to buy a new set of golf clubs right away. Left handed golfers may find out that the game requires skills and work that they don’t really want to learn. If you are a left handed golfer, you would be well served to keep you’re eyes peeled for sets that are being sold at yard sales. If an enthusiast new golfer purchased a new set of left handed golf clubs and quickly lost interest, you will be able to benefit.

An important part of the game of golf is good quality equipment. A lefty should keep in mind that he should not try to play the game right handed just because it isn’t easy to find clubs for the left-handed person. It is better to wait to get the right equipment rather than compromise your game play. A left-handed person will never be able to be their best at the game of golf by trying to play right-handed.

The basic technique for playing golf is relatively the same whether you are left or right handed. Your grip should be neither too loose nor too tight. You stance should be square, and your feet parallel to the target line. Square the shoulders as well as the hips and the thighs parallel to the feet and the target line. If you want to slice the ball, the swing path should be from the inside to the outside. To hook the ball then the swing path should be from the outside to the inside. And don’t forget to make sure you have access to a decent set of left handed golf clubs.

Enjoy your golf game!

Whether you are hitting a driver or a nine iron, you can put the exact same swing on the ball and know that you are going to make solid contact with the ball. Consistency is the object with The Golf Swing Guru system, and that’s why so many golfers are benefiting from it - Now it is your turn - So, check out the Golf Swing Guru System today.

How To Get Lower Scores And Admiring Looks From Your Friends With These Golf Swing Basics

by Stewart K Tyrone

Golf is an ever popular game, more and more people play it every year, but unfortunately by not observing some golf swing basics many people do not play very well.

Golf is a game of many parts and the main challenge is to become competent in all areas, especially the short game.

Hitting the driver might be the most difficult part of golf. For many golfers, its basically like rolling the dice. You’ve got a slim chance that you’re going to be able to hit the fairway.

It seems like two out of three drives end up in the woods or in the water. This is where having patience is extremely valuable in the game of golf.

If you practice little but play often then and you have a bad temper then quite likely you will wrap your driver around the nearest tree after most drives.

So how do you perfect your drive? Here are a few golf swing basics to help you along.

A critical step to take is to make sure you are teeing the ball on a high tee. If you are using one of those deep headed drivers then this is especially important.

Many golfers will put it right on the ground and basically negate the purpose of having a tee. When you put it up higher, you make it easier to get under the ball. Getting under the ball properly will allow you to get the ball up in the air.

We’ve all had those tee shots that bounced off the ground about 10 feet in front of us. Many of those can be avoided by getting the ball up higher on the tee.

The next step in the golf swing tips is to move the ball forward in your stance. Many golfers will put the ball right in the middle of their legs, straight out in front of them.

Putting the ball in the middle of your stance stops you hitting the ball on the up.

Hitting the ball from the bottom makes it easier to get it up into the air.

The distance you are able to get on the ball will also increase over time with experience and as your swing improves.

Also make sure that you address the ball squarely with the clubface to avoid any unnecessary hooks or slices.

Maybe if they did there would not be so many golfers hitting from the woods with their second shot.

As you address the ball stop and bring the club straight up to waist level, look at the clubface to check if it is pointing straight up and therefore will be square to the ball.

Practice these swing tips on the range and they will soon help to improve your game next time you go out onto the course.

The Keys To Long Drives

by James Perry

If you’ve been struggling to increase the length of your drive, you’ll be pleased to hear that World Long Drive Champion Eric Jones has written a book that will help you learn the fundamental concepts and swing sequence you need to use to maximize your own, natural athleticism to hit the ball further off the tee. This book will show you the simple biomechanics you can use to enhance your length off the tee to drive the ball 20, 30 or 50 yards further, every time.

As a Long Drive competitor and World Champion it is Eric Jones’ job to drive the ball as far as he possibly can. He has spent the last 6 years studying the elements of distance and learning how to apply what he’s learnt to his swing. He’s been fortunate enough to have some remarkable success. As a PGA Professional it was job (and his good fortune) to work with thousands of students to help them drive the ball further and with more consistency. Some of these students have achieved remarkable successes of their own. The concepts in this book are not just theory. They are field-tested and battle-proven techniques that WILL help you get more distance off the tee.

So what’s the secret to hitting longer drives? The ’secret’ you’re about to learn is simple, but it took Jones a long time to figure out how to do it. This is hard-earned wisdom - from one golfer to another. When he started working on increasing his own distance he was focused on the problem itself: How to hit the ball harder. That makes sense, right? But what he found is that when it comes to the golf swing, you can’t overcome the laws of physics or the fundamental realities of biomechanics. You have to work with them.

Taking a swing that isn’t built for distance and trying to hit the ball harder will not lead to more length off the tee. It only leads to tension, and tension kills swing speed. The real ‘that’s it!’ moment came for Jones when he realized its about swinging faster, not harder. That one simple shift in thinking changed his focus, took him in a new direction, and ultimately had a major effect on his long-term success as a competitive golfer and World Champion Long Drive Professional.

This book represents the distillation of everything he have learned about driving the ball further: the swing mechanics, the practice routines, the drills and even the mental approach to distance. Everything that he uses myself, and everything he teaches his students, including the lessons he’s learned and the unbelievable changes he have seen both in his ability to hit the ball further and in his student’s results. So now you know: The Secret To Hitting Longer Drives Is Swing Speed.

Golfing Tips for Beginners: 5

by Rhys Jones

“Drive for show, putt for dough” is the lesson we’ve all seen and learned from watching the professional golfers in every tournament and championship either live or on TV.

The champions of golf can drive a ball from here to kingdom-come, but it all comes down to how many strokes it takes to get the ball in the hole. The long accurate drives don’t mean anything if you’re unable to putt accurately.

The choice of putter is very important, but knowing how to use that putter consistently, is even more important. For example, I’ve had the same putter for fifteen years, so I know what it feels like in my hand, I know it’s weight and I know how all that plays into my putts.

Now putting takes a huge amount of practice. Think about this: we drive the ball roughly eighteen times a game (once per hole), but putt at least twice that amount. So, surely it make sense to practice putting at least twice as much as driving? Therefore, if you just can’t get to the practice green that often, you could practice on your carpet at home.

But bear in mind that the ball will never make it to the hole, if it doesn’t have enough wallup behind it to get it in there. So, why not take the time to get down on the ground to look at the path your ball must run to the hole. Does it slope one way or the other? Does the path run uphill or downhill?

Stand with your feet spread for balance and line up the putt. Keep you hands, arms and shoulders completely still. Imagine that you are a “bobble head” but you move from just below your chest. Keep your head directly over the ball. Pull your club back; keep your hands, wrists, arms and shoulders steady - the movement comes from your chest. Hit the ball, following it through with your club.

Be sure to learn from each putt and remember the lesson. Practice, practice, practice!

Just the Right Golf School for You

by Chuck R Stewart

All over the planet, fans follow their favorite golf athletes in the different tournaments that they participate in. Who has not heard of pro golfer Tiger Woods who reportedly made $110 million in 2008 alone? Of course, he was not born with a club in his hands. He had to learn to be the most admired and highest earning sports professional in the world. It was a long process filled with patience, determination and focus. Is it attainable to become a pro golfer like Woods? Of course! It is actually much easier to learn the tricks in golf now that anyone can attend golf school. Watching sports channels, we may have become familiar with the different kinds of irons, when to use a wood and when to use a putter, what the difference is between a drive and a chip and how the game is scored. However, more than these basics, there are more to learn. There is a wide gap between getting a perfect score in a golf quiz and getting ten strokes over par. Its just like driving; knowing what the street signs mean does not guarantee you can drive a vehicle. There is more to just plain concepts.

Thus, it is of extreme importance that you find a golf school that can teach you not only the things we can actually read from golf books, but that which can offer valuable tips and information regarding how to play the game. You also need to be at ease with the instructors in the golf school you plan to attend to. The more comfortable you are with his methods, the better are your chances odds in grasping the lessons. As a result, you are able to learn the basics and proceed with the advanced courses more quickly.

You should, however, take your time in learning. Golf is not a very easy sport to pick up. It is more complicated than most popular sports. Aside from the new terminologies and new techniques you have to master, there are numerous different kinds of courses that you must be ready to face. Unlike many other sports, golf does not come with a standard court or playing field. You may even say that no two golf courses are ever the same. So, you must be completely ready with how to face the different hazards presented by each course.

Some beginners also prefer to be guided by an online golf school. One reason for this is that they want to be more comfortable with the sport first before doing it in the field itself. This may also prove to be beneficial especially to those with limited time as the only time you need to be in the golf course is when you are actually ready with all the basics and are fit to the real action on the greens.

The important thing here is that, whether you attend a formal golf school or an online golf school, you give your best in what you do and focus on the goal of bringing the ball to the hole.

Ladies Petite Golf Sets: Are They Right For You?

by Sue Rainson

Are you a new lady golfer and wondering whether you should be looking for ladies petite golf sets or standard sets? Selecting a golf club is a lot like selecting a dress. Height makes a big difference in the size of the dress you buy and the same is true for the type of golf clubs you should buy. Dresses come in petite, average and tall sizes; the same is true for golf clubs.

If your height is less than 5 feet 2 inches then ladies petite golf sets are probably appropriate for you. Ladies whose height ranges between 5 feet 2 inches and 5 feet 8 inches normally use standard club sets. Ladies over 5 feet 8 inches traditionally use tall length clubs. These are typical representations for club sizes; there are no industry standards. The best way to find your size is by trying different clubs.

For those new to golfing there is a tendency not to realize the full impact that using wrong clubs can have on your performance. Ladies golf clubs are lighter than men clubs. Having a lighter club can enable a lady to have more control over her swing.

In ladies petite golf sets you will find clubs that are one-inch shorter than those found in standard sets. This inch can have a significant impact over the control of your swing. Trying to swing a club that is too long for your body proportions can hinder your swing. Thus your performance can suffer.

The grip and feel of clubs is always an important consideration when choosing your set. Make it a point to try a variety of clubs to see what feels the best for you.

When beginning the process of choosing clubs your local golf pro shop is a great place to start. You can try a few of them out while there and also take time to talk with the golf pro to see what they might suggest for you.

Don’t hesitate to buy a used set of clubs should you find some that are a good price and fit you well. Frequently beginner golfers use a starter set or a used set of clubs.

Over the past years golf has risen in popularity for lady golfers. More women golf products are available today than ever before because manufactures have recognized this growing popularity and have extended there manufacturing lines. You will discover a wide range of ladies golf products to meet almost any need, including ladies petite golf sets.

TaylorMade R580XD Review

by Howard Mark

I have been searching for a driver better then my current one, a perfect driver if you will. I can now say my searching is over since I have tried a R580XD. How can you say this you may ask? Well I have tried Ping G5,Titleist 905R, Taylormade R5 and the Ben Hogan Big Ben CS3 drivers and personally R580XD is the best.

All were 9.5 with stiff flex shafts. I have played the Ben Hogan CS3 for the last 3 years. It was always consistant but tended to be a higher ball flight and shorter distance than I cared for. I just lived with knowing I could put it in the fairway but not be as long as I should.

All of that changed when I saw the R580XD at Edwin Watts this past week for $99.00 brand new! My first “new” driver was the R5 “neutral” bias. I got away from Taylormade over the years and now I am so glad I have their driver back in my bag!

My drives have increased by 20 plus yards now and that is without sacrificing the accuracy. Rather than the ball in a balloon effect in the Hogan it now flies high/mid. Another great thing about this driver is hitting the sweet spot and the sound that is made.

My search for a driver on the web is now over. I spend a lot more time playing golf. One important aspect of Taylormade is the customer service you receive. I have gotten top notch services for every problem I have had with the driver.

On the first issue, the “Neutral” decal fell off the driver. I happened to run across the Taylormade rep. at our local golf store. I showed him what happened and within a few days I had a new driver in my hands. On the second occasion a “glow ball” golf ball dented the face of the driver, those balls are as hard as a rock…FYI don’t used your good clubs to hit these balls!
